“Over the last couple of years since I retired from professional skateboarding, I’ve read religiously. Not as in religious books.. but like, religiously. I ferociously read. Like today, I woke up at 7am and read Socrates for 4 hours. On average I read 4 hours a day, but I’ve had days where I’ll read 10 to 12 hours. A lot of the time these books reiterate what I already know but it doesn’t hurt to study the only topics that really matter. It helps you unlock the wisdom you have inside. I just have one definitive major purpose and as long as I’m getting better then I’m getting closer.” – Jereme Rogers
1. 50th Law – Robert Greene
This is a book mainly to protect one principle which is about being fearless. I’ve been on this path for a minute. It’s natural that we all experience and taste fear. But I no longer know the nuisance of self doubt or fear. I’ve completely diminished all that. Say I’m walking and someone jumped out of the dark and startled me, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to be startled or have a moment of fear, but it’s different to live in fear and experience fear. If I’m gonna be here I want to be as great as possible and removing fear is necessary to do so.
2. The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho
This ones a story and helps you understand the laws of the universe that are in effect at all times… not like the ones the government makes, but like.. gravity. I usually don’t ever read stories, I have no interest in stories because they are just made for entertainment. I have no interest in entertainment. What entertains me is to grow and progress.
3. Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki
I read this one in jail. One of the bosses who ran shit, I was cool with him and I asked him if he had any books. He could see that I was not afraid and comfortable where I was and we connected. I’m just good with people. So he gave me this one. It’s one of the top books I would suggest to people. It’s one of the best books in the world on finances and understanding money and how to have money work for you and not to be a slave to it.
4. The Secret of the Ages – Robert Collier
PJ Ladd gave this one to me. We talk about a lot of the same stuff and how to operate mentally on the same level or vibration. The funny thing about reading, is that people think when you’re reading you have to remember everything. But if you’re reading something about a very specific topic, like being a lawyer then that’s knowledge. But I study wisdom, which is something that lives in all of us. It’s not important if you can remember the whole page you just read, as long as it makes you feel and resonates truth with you. It becomes a part of your character, without you having to remember it.
“Read those books and continue. Read and act, cultivate your mind, and come in tune with yourself because power is inside you and act as you feel. The universe likes action, it rewards it, idle time is never ideal time. Don’t wait on things to happen, make things happen.” – Jereme Rogers

As a librarian and skateboarder I think this post is awesome. Thanks for posting it, and maybe make it a series. I’m sure many pro skaters have good lists of books.
