It’s funny, I used to think it would be the easiest thing in the world to film a contest. Just go there, take out your camera, film, upload to Youtube. Done! But that’s like telling someone to have sex all they have to do is whip it out and stick it in. Which is true.. but things don’t really work like that.
What you might not realize, is that Tampa AM is crowded as fuck with all sorts of weirdos pressing up on you, trying to squeeze their little head in to see what’s going down. Unless you get there early, (which won’t happen if you have any sort of social life) it’s not always easy to find a spot covering all the skateboarding from a good angle. Then once you do find that magic little crevice, try catching all the tricks and filming it somewhat decently, while standing on this ramp in the corner for a couple of hours. That’s when you realize that you haven’t eaten anything all day and that you’re about to piss yourself. Too bad you can’t leave because you dont want lose the spot or miss some amazing “banger”.
Then if everything goes as planned, the next race is back at the hotel room. It’s time to go through a nauseating amount of footage and edit some type of montage to get up on the internet before some other guy goes and “steals” all your potential views.
Thankfully our filmer buddy Mazza was there to catch some highlights, while still having an amazing time. He might only have edited a minute or so of tricks, but who has time to sit at home and edit a bunch of footage when they could be getting drunk in Ybor city or sitting on the beach while everyone else freezes their asses off back home?
