While everybody is out in New York working on their “Summer Trip to NYC” montages, we’re happy to bring you something a little different. The Theories of Atlantis crew left their Big Apple HQ to spend a couple of weeks in the City of Angels, and came through with quite the documentation to prove it.
In case you’re not familiar with TOA, they’re a brand and distribution company started by Josh Stewart that sells most of your favorite foreign brands to a skateshop near you. Despite repping a pretty diverse group of riders from all across the world, surprisingly nobody in the Theories camp currently resides in Los Angeles full time. As it becomes more and more common for people to build careers in skateboarding outside of the SoCal skate club where it all started, we see less and less of the city pop up compared to just a few years ago.
But LA remains a skate mecca. It may sound corny, but we’re now at a point where it’s almost like a pilgrimage for those who grew up outside of LA to go and push along the beach in Venice or Santa Monica, or to skate spots we saw Natas Kaupas and Gino Iannucci skate in all our favorite videos growing up. (The perfect weather and pretty girls are good bonuses, too.)
With surf scenes, sunsets, and Tarantino-inspired title cards, this edit embodies some of Los Angeles’s most iconic aesthetics without sacrificing any of the Theories of Atlantis crew’s signature style. Check it out in the video player above, and then hit up the TOA webstore to buy all your paraphernalia.
