Heyo!
If you’ve been following the site for a while, you might remember a little call for music announcement we did about a year ago. We didn’t really know what we wanted to do with it, it wasn’t meant to be a big thing, just a sneaky fart in the wind. Surprisingly, we ended up getting hundreds of musical submissions in our inbox, some bad, some good, but all of them made by skaters. It took us months to go through every single track, but we ended up finding a handful of artists that we were stoked on and wanted to give them the shine that we feel they deserve.
So, to celebrate, we took 19 of our favorites and pieced them together on a compilation record titled Beginnings. Totally cross-genre, the artists all have their own vibe, with not much in common except skateboarding and the fact that we met through Jenkem in some way or another. You might not like every single track (or maybe you will), but if you are into music – or just like the pervy album cover by Ed Templeton – there’s definitely something in there that should get you psyched.
Beginnings will be available to buy digitally on March 31st, but if you want a little something extra you can preorder the compilation on iTunes and get 2 tracks that you can instantly download and listen to today. And for all you purists out there, we pressed a small batch – 300 copies of colored vinyl – that you can preorder now for an early April arrival. (You’ll even find a few extra goodies in the package too.)
As always, thanks for reading and being down for our small site over the years! This one should be interesting…
Your friends,
Jenkem
