Whether or not you’ve always followed Corey Duffel’s career, his skating was never something you could look away from.
We got together with our friend Joey Sinko to make this short film taking a second look at the slams, stories, and glory left by the Duffman.
Much more than a “best of” but not quite a Hulu documentary, this Jenkem Ode is a deeply personal dive into Corey’s life. Revisit the huge gaps and rails that made Corey’s career and broke many of his bones, and hear the behind the scenes tales of his incredible makes and gut-wrenching slams.
After months of scouring video parts, uncovering old footage, and interviewing Corey in a police interrogation-style room, Joey emerged with “Manimal.” It may sound like the title of either a sick ’80s TV show or downright bestiality, but it’s instead a powerful meditation of skating’s number one punk.
If your teenage hormones resurface at the thought of the Duffman, or you’re unaware of the recklessness he puts himself through, “Manimal” will be a wild ride.
