This statement may sound ridiculous, but we wouldn’t print it if we didn’t think it was true: Skateboarding has always been a guide to what’s cool in the world. Since the early days of street skating, each generation of skateboarders has unwittingly educated the tastes and fashions of the next generation. Growing up they were like our collective big brothers and sisters, putting us on to what had some flavor and what sort of sucked.
For this entry of One Sheet, we hit up Elissa Steamer of OG Toy Machine and THPS fame. Elissa has been an influential figure in skating for a long, long time, but she’s taken on even bigger roles in recent years, becoming one of the faces of Nike SB’s skate program and being the first woman to get a pro board on Baker. She didn’t need any of that as validation, but it’s good to see her continue to skate at a high level and inspire skaters for the last 25 years.

Huge Elissa fan but imprisoned Uighur people are forced to make Nikes, so you can either care about human rights or ride for Nike. Can blame every asshole who thought a company that makes basketball shoes should get their skateboarding business. Companies with CEOs, stock, and investors own the skate industry now because of it.
