Over the weekend, we came across a clip of Jace DeTomasso ollieing down a massive stair set in Miami, FL that looked eerily similar to the old Leap of Faith drop in California.
The internet, being quick as always, dubbed the spot “The Miami Leap of Faith” and began speculating on the size of the drop.
For the uninitiated, the original Leap of Faith is located in San Diego, made famous by Jamie Thomas in his part from Zero’s Thrill of it All. It’s a similarly massive stair set, but unlike Jace, Jamie wasn’t able to roll away from his ollie, but made for a highly celebrated and mythical “non-ender ender.”
Now, decades later, Jace was able to pull off an ollie on a drop people are speculating is bigger, but to put all the curious commenters to bed, they went back and measured the drop to compare it to the OG Leap of Faith. Their findings were surprising, but we won’t ruin those for you, so check the video to find out yourself.

Props to to Jace DeTomasso for this. Solid huck brother!
However, let’s not forget that Jamie attempted point Loma in 97. That means that TWENTY FIVE years have passed before someone was able to match it. Land it. That speaks volumes about Jamie’s original launch.
I have been to both drops. Point Loma leap of faith is now an elevator lol but if you go there you can still stand at the top railing and check the height. I was there when the original set up still existed. The difference between the two drops is that you hit the leap of faith at an angle and gap over the flat part of the handrail, then drop. Yes you’re going to clear the gap if you get a solid snap and know what you’re doing.. but yes it’s also sketchy as fuck and you’ve gotta be blazing to clear it.
Let’s also not forget that Jaws could land both drops, no problem. Jaws has done some massive shit, Not to mention two MASSIVE kickflip melons that are right up there with most insane shit ever done.
Lastly, thank you Jenkem for creating this awesome content!
