CHECKING OUT A HIDDEN DIY FINGERBOARD PARK IN QUEENS

You might associate fingerboarding with a plastic toy you flung around in the back of your classroom in high school. While doing some research, we found that Lance Mountain is credited with building the first ever fingerboards, before the Tech Deck era many of us grew up in.

We’ve always been curious about fingerboarding and its rep as skateboarding’s weird cousin. So when we heard about a DIY fingerboard park hiding in Queens, we had to go find it. It’s already hard enough keeping regular DIY skate stuff around, so it was impressive that this spot has been able to grow and expand as much as it has thanks to builders Benson and Jaren, as well as plenty of other helping hands.

This was our day at the fingerboard DIY learning about the ins and outs of this unique little culture within a culture living right in our own backyard.
