In 2021, our friend and former pro skater Karl Watson introduced us to Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist with an accomplished academic background who exploded in popularity through his podcast, where he breaks down complex science topics in a digestible way.
If you’ve tuned in before, you may have also heard about Andrew’s skateboarding past. Growing up around the ‘90s Embarcadero heyday, he brushed shoulders with many SF legends and even wrote a music column for Thrasher back in the day.
Since then, he’s become known in the podcast world as the go-to neuroscientist for breaking down health and wellness topics—both on his own Huberman Lab and on other shows. And, as anyone who’s gained a large following on the internet knows, it doesn’t come without controversy.
We’ve really only seen Andrew from the waist up, in controlled podcast studios over the years. As followers of his work, we were curious to see him in a more casual setting—something less structured—to get a sense of the guy we hear so much about but rarely get to interact with in a personal way.
After a couple of texts, Andrew invited us over to his home in LA, where we were welcome to attempt his sauna and cold plunge, check out his old mags, and maybe even learn a skill or two along the way. Hopefully this piece gives you a bit more of an intimate look into his world.

@allenkarpinski While I don’t have a problem with AH (he seems like a decent guy), really agree with the idea that people should be able to have their say. Lots of ideas and opinions out there, especially in skateboarding. Echo chambers and all that.

Any tips from Huberman, or Hubie, as he’s affectionately known in our commuity, on how to impregnate one chick and keep injecting her with fertility drugs while lying to her telling her you lover her but using her as some kind of biological breeding project, all while juggling numerous affairs? My “wife” keeps asking questions like “who are you texting?” while I am multitasking. My harem is deprived of my valuable texts when she does this! How do I let her know she is just for genes and my affair partners are for pleasure? I earned them with my nepotism….ahem, hard work!
